Three arch ways form the special silhouette of this beautiful deep-relief carved stele. In the centre stands the handsome Kartikeya, the Hindu God of War, an important deity in South Asia who is widely beloved as a philosopher-warrior who destroys evil and teaches the pursuit of ethical life. He smiles wisely and balances a leg up on his loyal peacock vehicle. He is dressed in a high crown and jewelry, and holds a curved bow in his left hand, and an arrow in the other. Flanking the youthful God are his dedicated attendants, each raising up an offering flower as they stand at attention.
